We are currently seeking a Legal Officer (Planning and Property) to join the team at Hammersmith & Fulham on a contract basis. This role is an excellent opportunity to provide expert legal advice on property matters while supporting the council’s objectives.

Location:Hammersmith & Fulham

(1 day per week in the office)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft legal documents and offer advice on Right to Buy, Lease Extensions, Collective Enfranchisement, Licenses for Alterations, Discount Market Sale, Private Sector Leasing, and land acquisitions.
  • Manage the creation and discharge of mortgages.
  • Assist lawyers with title investigations and property registrations.
  • Support Senior Lawyers with compulsory purchase order procedures.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior Legal Officers, interns, or Legal Assistants.

To Progress to P01, You Must Demonstrate:

  • Experience in preparing legal documentation.
  • Assistance with compulsory purchase order procedures.
  • Experience supervising junior team members.
  • Consistent high-quality work and exceptional client care.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Law degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of property law, with a willingness to develop expertise in planning, highways, or licensing.
