Part-time In-House Legal Counsel - 2-3 days per week with flexibility.

Remote/Hybrid role with 1-2 days per month in the office

Responsibilities: 

Our in-house legal counsel will provide legal input into all areas of the business.  The main focus of the role will be on dealing with commercial contracts, and because of the nature of our business, a working knowledge of IPR will be required.  Other areas of responsibility will include general employment law advice.   

  • Contract Drafting and Review: Drafting new contracts, reviewing existing contracts, ensuring they comply with relevant laws and regulations and achieve commercial goals 
  • Managing company IPR: As a creative company whose training products are based on ideas, protection of our IPR is of paramount importance.  A working knowledge of IPR within the creative industries, and especially where creativity meets commerciality 
  • Risk Management: Spot and mitigate potential legal risks in contracts and business deals 
  • Negotiation Support: Assisting in contract negotiations to ensure favourable terms for your company.  To include client meetings where needed 
  • Legal Compliance: Ensuring that all contracts and business activities comply with applicable laws and regulations 
  • Dispute Resolution: Handling any legal disputes that may arise from contractual agreements 

Relevant Experience 

  • Contract Law: Significant experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts 
  • Industry Experience #1: Familiarity with the creative industries, including a working knowledge of IPR within this context, would be highly beneficial 
  • Industry Experience #1: Familiarity with the construction/infrastructure projects and the procurement processes within these industries would be beneficial 
  • Industry Experience 2: Familiarity with the training products would be desirable 
  • In-House Counsel Experience: Prior experience working as an in-house legal counsel would be highly beneficial

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders 
  • Negotiation Skills: Proficiency in negotiating positive outcomes and resolving disputes  Attention to Detail:

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them

Qualifications: 

  • Qualified lawyer with a focus on commercial law 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in contract law

  • Good understanding of Intellectual Property Rights law
