An opportunity has been created for a Credit Controller to provide a comprehensive and commercially focused billing service to the London office. Serving a specific business area this is chance to be involved with the largest and busiest team. The firm is a leading global £multi-billion turnover Legal Professional Services group, operating within the UK, Europe, US and Asia-PAC markets. They have developed an enviable reputation for outstanding professional services and delivering innovative products & service solutions. Enjoying continued growth through service and market development, the business delivers challenging assignments for a worldwide blue-chip client base.

Key Responsibilities of the Credit Controller

  • Debt management: Collaborate with Senior Credit Controllers and Practice Groups to chase outstanding debts, oversee debtor balances on matter files, and enforce the firm's Credit Management Process.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Partner with Divisional Heads, Finance Partners, and other key figures to manage the firm's debt profile and ensure smooth cash inflow communication.
  • Influencing & reporting: Lead meetings with fee earners to drive cash collection, track partner engagements using the COLLECT system, and advise on debtor balances in internal and external discussions.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare and present financial reports on key metrics, including cash collections, cash trends, and debtor days, tailoring reports to business needs.
  • Client engagement: Manage direct communications with clients regarding outstanding balances, reinforcing the team’s professional reputation.

Skills & Attributes of the Credit Controller

  • Credit control experience: Previous experience within a professional services environment handling credit control responsibilities.
  • Billing knowledge: Strong understanding of billing and eBilling processes.
  • Regulatory awareness: Familiarity with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and VAT for law firm billing is desirable but not essential.
  • Communication & influence: Excellent ability to engage with senior stakeholders and clients with confidence and professionalism.
  • Organisational skills: Strong ability to prioritise tasks, manage workloads efficiently, and meet deadlines.
