Senior Credit Controller

Next Chapter Talent have partnered with a highly respected & trusted property group, renowned for their commitment to excellence and exceptional service. With a longstanding reputation for both client and team satisfaction, they are dedicated to providing the highest standards in the property management space. They are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Credit Controller to join their team in overseeing the smooth running of the credit control function related to rent, service charges, and other payments for a diverse portfolio of residential and mixed-use properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the Credit Control function for your assigned portfolio, ensuring effective payment collection and assisting with the resolution of legal disputes and lease breaches as necessary.
  • Monitor accounts regularly and prepare detailed arrears reports in collaboration with management.
  • Review the arrears list frequently, taking appropriate steps in consultation with the Senior Credit Controller and Property Managers to resolve outstanding payments.
  • Take necessary actions to recover payments, including liaising with mortgagees, solicitors, or bailiffs, and managing follow-up actions, including when the matter escalates to court proceedings.
  • Work closely with Property Managers (both Block Managers and Tenancy Managers) to assess any potential repairs, disputes, or breaches before pursuing recovery actions.
  • Manage and coordinate the timely collection of payments, ensuring any risks of non-payment are minimized, while maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism.
  • Prepare detailed reports on arrears relating to Major Works contributions and any related issues.
  • Negotiate payment plans with leaseholders and tenants where required, in collaboration with the Senior Credit Controller.
  • Provide guidance on complex arrears settlement issues, collaborating with the Senior Credit Controllers, Area Manager, and other senior stakeholders as needed.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for solicitors in the event of court action, ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
  • Represent the company in court proceedings, providing clear and accurate evidence when required.
  • Respond promptly to all internal and external correspondence, including phone calls and emails, and prepare relevant reports for the Area Manager and Senior Management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all communications with tenants and leaseholders are logged on the company’s property management system.
  • Process all incoming payments in accordance with company procedures, ensuring proper handling of financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve queries related to disrepair, major works, or any other issues arising from payment or legal disputes.
  • Manage in-house administration for customer accounts, including processing refunds when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Area Managers, or Senior Management, in line with your role and capabilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently at all levels.
  • Proficient in Excel, with a strong understanding of accounts management.
  • A diligent, tenacious, and highly motivated individual, eager to contribute to the team’s success.
  • At least 12-24 months of experience in an accounts role within a property setting, either with a focus on AST or Block.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload under pressure.
  • A proactive approach, demonstrating initiative and a solution-focused mindset.
