As part of our mission, we collect and recycle food waste from various locations, converting it into valuable resources such as compost and biogas.Position SummaryWe are seeking reliable and responsible Food Waste Collection Drivers to operate 3.5-tonne vans across the UK. The successful candidates will be responsible for collecting food waste from commercial and residential clients, ensuring timely and efficient service. This role requires a customer-focused attitude, a commitment to sustainability, and the ability to handle physical tasks.Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a 3.5-tonne van to collect food waste from designated routes nationwide.
  • Ensure timely and efficient collection according to the scheduled routes.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with clients, addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Accurately complete daily log sheets and maintain records of collections.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety procedures.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs.
  • Load and unload food waste containers, ensuring they are handled with care to avoid spillage.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimise routes and improve service efficiency.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues encountered during collections to the supervisor.
Health and Safety
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Attend regular health and safety training sessions.
  • Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor.
  • Ensure food waste is handled in a hygienic and safe manner to prevent contamination.
Van Care
  • Perform daily vehicle checks to ensure the van is in good working condition.
  • Keep the van clean and well-maintained at all times.
  • Report any mechanical issues or damages to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Ensure the van is stocked with necessary tools and equipment for the job.
Qualifications
  • Valid UK driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Experience driving a 3.5-tonne van or similar vehicle.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy containers (up to 25kg) and moving 200kg drums and wheelie bins with trolley assistance.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Basic understanding of waste management practices is a plus.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing food waste.
