Data Governance Analyst - London

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to support the Data Governance Manager in enhancing governance practices and policies across the Technology Solutions & Services unit and all company divisions.

This for our client who are a Global Business Intelligence, Publications and events group. This will be on an initial 6 month contract, mainly remote working with travel to London and Outside IR35.

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Data Governance (DG) professional with knowledge and experience in driving DG policies, principles, and frameworks. The role sits within the Technology Solutions & Services (TS&S) business unit however the remit for the role encompasses Technology at the client, which spans all the listed divisions.The DG Analyst will be supporting the DG Manager and working with the business embedded roles to enhance the DG capability within TS&S.

  • A hands-on DG professional supporting the day-to-day operational DG activities in their designated data domain
  • Contributes to the overall success of DG efforts by addressing specific challenges and ensuring consistent implementation of DG frameworks in their specific remit

  • Other Data teams for collaborations, e.g., the Data Privacy Team and the Data Architecture Team etc
  • Sub Domain Owners
  • Business Process Data Owners
  • Operational Data Stewards

Key Areas of Responsibility/Accountability

  • To ensure a standardised approach for group cohesion by aligning DG operations with strategic goals on a day-to-day basis
  • To work closely and collaboratively with their DG Manager and business-embedded roles to support in the definition of DG standards and their implementation
  • To raise business DG literacy by facilitating training of DG and building artefacts at an operational level
  • To facilitate DG activities related to data quality, strategy enforcement, and issue resolution, directly impacting reliable decision-making
  • To conduct regular DG health checks within their domain to track progress against goals

Key Outputs and Outcomes

  • Development of DG Culture across the Technology Domain
  • Continual refinement & iteration of DG Principles, standards, metrics along with policy and processes
  • Engagement with business embedded roles and aligned job functions to fully embed end-to-end DG and operationally run it seamlessly on a day-to-day basis

Demonstration of Success

  • DG processes in place, embedded and run (in collaboration with the DG Manager and business-embedded role) across business processes within the respective domainImproved DG metrics across the Technology domain
  • Demonstratable effective reporting through governance forums
  • Successful annual Health Checks completed

QualificationsThe successful candidate will be:

  • Someone who is eager to help develop and shape a Data Capability and build maturity across a broad variety of stakeholders.
  • Have a sound understanding of the DG practices
  • Someone who can be adaptable when required and continue to show a 'can-do' attitude
  • A detail-oriented person, dedicated to operational excellence, demonstrating experience and skills in DG with strong communication, collaboration, across teams and problem-solving
  • Someone who has a sound knowledge of industry leading Data Management tooling i.e Data Catalog tools
  • Able to fluently communicate with business-embedded roles to help them set DG standards
