Role - Data QA Engineer

Type - Fixed term contract (6 to 9 months) very likely extension

Location - Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office (Victoria)

Spec -

PURPOSE OF POST:

  • To work within the QA team to ensure internal consistency and external consistency in datasets while guaranteeing their accuracy across all business processes
  • To collaborate with product managers and development teams to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • To execute tests and to document and track defects

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED BY JOB HOLDER:

(Describe with referent to abilities/qualifications such as report writing, oral presentation, accuracy, reliability, administrative, interpersonal, confidentiality, computer use, professional, managerial, languages etc)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of data quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing and OLTP SQL Server environments
  • Knowledge of ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and other ETL platforms to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Familiarity services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Blob Storage for testing and automation
  • Familiarity with Azure Automation for orchestrating data workflows and automating various tasks in a cloud environment. Knowledge of Apache Airflow for testing, and monitoring data workflows
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve quality goals.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUE:

ETL Testing and Validation:

Test ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and other ETL platforms to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Use Unix shell scripting for efficient data manipulation and task automation.

Job Automation:

Create Azure Automation for orchestrating data workflows and automating various tasks in a cloud environment using Azure Automation and Apache Airflow for testing, and monitoring data workflows.

Data Visualization:

Assist in using data visualization tools such as Power BI to validate data reports and ensure data accuracy.

Agile Methodologies

Work within an Agile frameworks, participating in sprint planning and daily stand-ups. Contribute to and learn from the agile development process

Defect Tracking

Document, prioritize, and track defects in Azure DevOps, ensuring efficient resolution.

Participate in defect triage meetings to prioritize and manage defect resolution.

Data Governance and Compliance:

Ensure adherence to data governance frameworks and compliance standards such as GDPR to maintain data integrity and compliance.
