Data Warehouse Developer

The RoleAs a Data Warehouse Developer, you will join our Group Enterprise Systems Technology team, contributing to enterprise-level data warehouse solutions. You'll work on a mix of regulatory initiatives and production support, focused on actuarial reserving systems. The successful candidate will be a hands-on Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse expert with experience across the BI stack. This role will provide exposure to enterprise-grade technology and the opportunity to be a key contributor to the organisation's data roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain enterprise-class data warehouse solutions.
  • Implement and maintain data models in collaboration with data modellers and analysts.
  • Build and maintain automated pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various structured and unstructured sources.
  • Utilize SQL Server 2019 and other potential Azure-based technologies to support BI and analytics.
  • Establish standardised data pipelines and consistent data solutions across the organisation.
  • Work with enterprise-grade technologies and contribute to the strategic roadmap.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server data warehouse development and architectures.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query writing and SQL procedures.
  • Experience developing ETL solutions using SQL Server, SSIS, and T-SQL.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft BI technologies including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
  • Understanding of data/system integration with the ability to identify dependencies.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel & VBA.
  • Experience or exposure to Insurance, Banking, or Financial Services industries.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse design patterns and data modelling.
  • Experience in gathering and interpreting business requirements to design and estimate end-to-end solutions.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and MS Teams, or similar collaboration tools.
  • Experience with BI reporting tools.
  • Understanding of Agile principles.
  • Exposure to Azure technologies such as SQL DB, Data Factory, Data Lake, Data Bricks, or Snowflake.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting the development of team members.
