Our client is a leading, diversified specialty insurance and reinsurance company with a global footprint. They are on the lookout for a Data Analytics Engineer to join their dynamic team in London. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the company's Data and Analytics strategy, turning data into valuable insights that inform decision-making across the organisation.

What you'll do:

As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping our client's analytics strategy. Your expertise in creating visualisations and analytical views will bring data to life for users across the organisation. You will also support their ambition to create a self-service data mining environment. Your role will involve working closely with key stakeholders/business managers to encourage adoption of our single version of data truth. You will also participate in both large- and small-scale projects for the design, transition, and operational activities associated with the delivery of new or existing data assets or services to the user community.

  • Contribute to the delivery of our analytics strategy, enabling all users with the capability to access data and insights for decision making.
  • Support the design and delivery of the analytics infrastructure.
  • Review user requirements, support design of all User Interface designs in Power BI.
  • Ensure that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.
  • Identify/support continuous improvement opportunities, to increase cost effectiveness and/or infrastructure flexibility.
  • Build trusting, productive, and sustainable relationships and partnerships with customers.
  • Demonstrate experience in building analytical tools meeting user's requirements.
  • Assist in administration of analytical tooling, such as Microsoft products such as Power BI, Fabric, Purview and Power Platform tools.
  • Produce ad-hoc management information/ analysis that illustrates the quality of your data products and pipelines.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Data Analytics Engineer role will bring extensive post-qualification work experience, including evidence of supporting technical and operational strategy. You will have a proven track record as a senior Analytical engineer, with design experience in the Microsoft tech stack, particularly on Azure cloud. Your expertise in creating visualisations that support decision making will be crucial to this role. Experience within Financial Services, especially Insurance, will be highly advantageous. You should also have hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.

  • Specific professional qualifications at the level of degree or equivalent (e.g., computer science, management of information systems or similar).
  • At least 5 years of experience as a senior Analytical engineer and design experience in the Microsoft tech stack including on Azure cloud .
  • Expertise in creating visualisations that support decision making.
  • Experience within Financial Services (especially Insurance).
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
  • Analytical engineering experience using Azure analytical tools such as Power BI.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyse data and use for decision-making.
