Mech Tech are looking for an experienced Database Manager to oversee and optimise our clients database systems in a fully remote, UK-based role. This position offers a competitive daily rate of £750 and is outside IR35, providing flexibility for contractors. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our database infrastructure, ensuring its performance, security, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Design & Management: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s database infrastructure.
- Performance Optimization: Ensure databases perform optimally, with high security and availability.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with diverse teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, perform backups, and establish robust disaster recovery procedures.
- Data Accuracy: Maintain data integrity, ensuring consistency and accuracy across systems.
- System Upgrades: Oversee database updates, patches, and upgrades, minimizing system downtime.
Required Skills & Experience
- Database Expertise: Proven experience managing relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Professional Background: Demonstrated success in roles such as Database Administrator or Database Manager.
- Design & Security: Strong skills in database design, optimization, and security best practices.
- Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with various teams effectively.
