Role: Senior Data Engineer

Locaiton: London, 3 days per week on site required

Rate: £90.00 - £95.00 per hour (umbrella)

Duration: 6-month contract

About the TeamYou will be joining the Data Platform Team, where you'll play a key role in ensuring the performance, stability, compliance, and overall success of the platform. This team handles various aspects of data management, including architecture, governance, and data lifecycle management. As part of this team, you'll contribute to the continuous availability of the system and its services while ensuring that it meets all Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand and address requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance product and service capabilities.
  • Build robust solutions to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements, including encryption, security, and data archiving.
  • Work closely with team members to foster a positive and efficient working environment.
  • Focus on developing Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) services from the ground up, meeting all NFRs, including compliance and performance.

What You Bring

  • Pro-active, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience working on high-volume processing systems.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and related concepts.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, with demonstrated expertise in querying large datasets.
  • Familiarity with programming techniques, particularly in PL/SQL.
  • Solid understanding of Oracle segment partitioning and index usage.

Added Bonus if You Have

  • Experience with Kafka Connect or queuing systems (such as Kafka).
  • Familiarity with data serialization formats like JSON, XML, PARQUET, or YAML.
  • Experience with high-volume distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data services.
  • Python or Shell scripting skills.
