About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to work on a data platform that plays a critical role in transforming health and social care services. This long-term initiative focuses on using the Google Cloud Platform to enable secure, efficient data access and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and manage scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing using modern, cloud-based tools.
  • Oversee data architecture including data lakes and data warehouses, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Develop and implement data quality frameworks, transformations, and analytical data models.
  • Optimise cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency, scalability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver data solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation on data pipelines, architectures, and systems.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for data analytics.
  • Strong experience with data modeling and the ability to produce industry-standard data models.
  • Familiarity with metadata repository design and management.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to address database issues and resolve problems in data processes, products, and services.
Preferred Skills
  • Certifications such as Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, or Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer.
  • Experience with advanced tools like Cloudera, Databricks, or other data engineering platforms.
  • Knowledge of OpenTelemetry for large-scale system monitoring.
