Our client, a leading organisation in the insurance sector, is looking for a talented Data Engineer to join their team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of complex data challenges and contribute to building innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Expert Knowledge: Gain a deep understanding of the company's IT landscape, data systems, and infrastructure.
  • Build and Operationalise Data Solutions: Design and implement data solutions to fix problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing and quality improvements.
  • Data Solution Design: Collaborate with the predictive analytics team to design data solutions, considering cloud platforms and ensuring that data and analytics are leveraged for future growth.
  • Data Analysis: Assess sources to determine the value of data and provide recommendations on what to include in analytical processes.
  • Core Data Management: Incorporate best practices in data governance, security, and quality management to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and business users, supporting delivery and educating end users on data products and the analytic environment.
  • System Analysis and Resolution: Perform analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of moderate complexity defects and incidents, optimising processes such as fuzzy merges when primary identifiers are missing to release the full value of data.
  • Testing: Conduct testing on data movement, transformation code, and data components to ensure integrity and accuracy.
  • Continuous Learning: Develop expertise in tools, techniques, and cloud platforms, with a focus on programming languages and software engineering practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL 
  • Experience with Spark is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Solid skills in data visualisation and data interpretation.
  • Previous experience working within the insurance sector is highly desirable.
  • A deep understanding of data governance, data security, and data quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimise and improve data processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
