Databricks Data Engineer - London/Remote - £70k

Please note - this role will require you to attend the London based office two days per week. To be eligible for this role you must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK - this organisation is not able to offer sponsorship.

A growing organisation who work across the legal sector are looking to further expand their data team with the addition of an experienced Data Engineer. This organisation is growing rapidly following significant financial investment over the last few years and are considered as a leader within their area of practice. Their ability to deliver to customer requirements depends heavily on the data function which is integral to ensuring that the product they offer is effective and fit for use. This is a very important role within the technical team.

In this role you will work primarily with Azure Data Platform, Databricks, SQL and Python/PySpark technologies. Day-to-day your role will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Build data pipelines and notebooks
  • Write SQL and Python code
  • Build and maintain automated systems and processes for projects
  • Provide effective data analysis
  • Carry out code review and refactoring where required
  • Create technical documentation
  • Ensure data best practice is adhered to
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve database issues
  • Provide mentoring to more junior members of the data team
  • Be an advocate for agile working
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business

Your role will be varied and challenging. You will have the opportunity to undertake further training and progress within the organisation to Senior, Principal and Management level roles.

To be a good fit for this role you should be an experienced Data Engineer who is capable of hitting the ground running within a busy technical role. You should have the following technical experience:

  • Strong Azure Data Engineering skills
  • Strong understanding of Databricks and PySpark
  • Strong SQL Server experience
  • Good understand of Azure technologies including ADF, ADL & Synapse
  • Good knowledge around Data Quality & Data Governance
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology

You should also have excellent communication skills and a real passion for data and technology.
