Data Engineer (Databricks) - Data Transformation Programme

Robert Half is supporting a Global Consulting Firm in seeking a Data Engineer (Databricks) to join a data transformation programme for a leading retail company. This long-term project (6-18 months) focuses on hands-on work with Databricks, including refining the client's data platform and integrating with a Data Lake in a fast-paced environment.

Contract Assignment Details:

  • Location: London (Hybrid - 1-2 days per week)
  • Duration: Initial 3 months - until the end of 2024 (with potential for extension)
  • Day Rate: £550-600 per day via an FCSA Accredited Umbrella company to payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Migrate and optimise data pipelines and workbooks within Databricks.
  • Remove outdated components from existing pipelines.
  • Reconfigure and optimise infrastructure to align with current operational models.
  • Ensure alignment across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Address technical debt and improve overall data platform efficiency.

Experience Needed:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks, particularly in development, implementation, and optimisation within large-scale environments.
  • Experience in Retail, FMCG, Hospitality, or similar industries preferred.
  • Strong background in executing data transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of Data Lake architecture and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, ETL processes, and data governance.
