HEAD OF DATA ARCHITECTURE

EAST LONDON / MIDLANDS (Hybrid)

£100,000-120,000 PER ANNUM

This UK bank is modernising and growing with the aim to become a challenger brand, and is hiring a Head of Data Architecture, to take command of design decisions across the Azure Data Platform. You will be responsible for managing a team of Architects and setting the design expectations for all future developments.

THE COMPANY

This UK bank is a collection of brands, which specialise in both lending and offering retail banking services. They are modernising their legacy platforms with a view to becoming a leader Challenger Bank and disrupting the industry.

THE ROLE

You will be joining a large Data Function, and taking ownership of a small Architecture team. In this role, you will manage the team, and have a major say in Data Platform decision-making across the business. In particular, you can be expected to be involved in;

Recruit and lead a small, high-performing team of data architects and analysts.
Develop and implement data architecture frameworks, standards, and patterns to ensure uniformity in data storage, usage, and distribution across the Bank.
Define and manage the target data architecture and roadmap, including the development of enterprise data platforms and the integration of cloud technologies.
Prepare and deliver clear communications on data architecture issues and trends to senior leadership and management committees.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Head of Data Architecture will have;

Extensive experience in a senior role within a data architecture environment, ideally in Azure and ideally in the Financial Services sector.
Strong expertise in data architecture, governance frameworks, and a comprehensive understanding of data technologies and platforms.
Previous experience with cloud data transformation, particularly with Azure, is a plus.
Essential line management experience overseeing a technical team across multiple locations.
