Are you an experienced data centre engineer with field engineering expertise, looking for your next challenge? Our client operates network POP sites globally alongside their own data centre in central London and abroad. This role is to join a small friendly team based out of their London data center and office where you will also be on call one week in 4 to cover field and data center work. 60% of your time is typically spent in their City based data center, and the remainder doing field engineering work which may be within Europe or globally for projects. This is a Monday to Friday role with no shifts - working hours are 9 to 6pm except when you are on call out cover (1 week out of 4). Salary range £35,000 - £38,000 plus an extra £6,000 car allowance and £4,250 for on call allowance - all payable monthly as a fixed amount.

You should have several years experience with faulting, installing and commissioning the following equipment in a data centre environment:

  • Equipment - Nokia / Alcatel SDH Transmission equipment (1642 / 1660 / 1678).

  • Installing and commissioning SDH networks.

  • Equipment - Juniper / BTI Transmission network equipment (MX / ACX / BTI7200 / BTI 7060).

  • Installing and commissioning Ethernet network.

  • Equipment - Juniper / BTI / Ekinops (DWDM / CWDM).

  • Installing and commissioning CWDM & DWDM networks.

  • Equipment - Cisco (Switch / Router).

  • Installing & commissioning DC & AC Power systems. (Rectifiers / PDU’s / ATS Switch)

  • First line support for Datacentre M&E Equipment (UPS-Uninterrupted power supply / AHU-Air Handling units / Generators / Switch Gear.

  • Ability to use MS Office/Visio/O365, CAD & Teams.

This is a Monday to Friday role with working hours of 09:00 to 18:00 (except when on call-out once a month). There is a free car parking space in the London office and you should have an appropriate car to accommodate kit and travel to sites. A valid visa enabling you to work in the UK and to travel abroad is also required. You must live well within a 2 hour drive of the City office to ensure you can support their SLAs when on cover.

Salary range including a car allowance and on call allowance is £45,000 - £48,000 payable monthly as a fixed amount. Typically you will be involved in monitoring, faulting, repairing:

  • CSC Faults,
  • M&E equipment, labelling, installation, basic configuration
  • fibre & copper infrastructure cabling,
  • uploading site records
  • assist Logistics with hardware picking & shipping requests
  • carry out physical hardware stockchecks
  • maintain and update site records after equipment installation or major rack works
  • provide weekly status reports to Project Manager on pre-staging, equipment & Network deployments
