We're on the hunt for a talented Data Platform Engineer to play a key role in building and optimising our next-generation data infrastructure, centred around ClickHouse, for our critical Global Markets Risk and P&L systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Architect & Optimise: Design and implement fault-tolerant, highly available, and scalable ClickHouse database environments.
  • Ensure Resilience: Develop and implement robust disaster recovery and backup strategies to safeguard vital data.
  • Performance Powerhouse: Dive deep into query optimisation and data modelling to maximise ClickHouse performance.
  • Integrate & Innovate: Help integrate ClickHouse into our DevOps pipelines (Jenkins, Ansible) and contribute to advanced monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Problem Solve & Support: Provide expert support for production ClickHouse databases, ensuring swift issue resolution.
  • Future Focus: Stay ahead of the curve with the latest ClickHouse developments and contribute to its evolution (potentially with C++!).

What You'll Need:

  • Proven experience with ClickHouse in a production setting (query engine, replication, setup).
  • Strong skills in designing backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Expertise in database performance optimisation and query tuning.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling (especially data warehouses/star schemas).
  • Knowledge of data loading/ETL techniques for high throughput.
  • Strong Linux/Unix skills and a solid grasp of data security best practices.
