As the Lead Data Engineer, you’ll take the reins of a small but mighty team of three skilled Data Engineers, guiding them to success while staying hands-on with coding, problem-solving, and strategy execution. Reporting directly to the Head of Technology, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s evolving data infrastructure—a crucial component in enabling intelligent decision-making in this fast-paced startup environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading your team: You’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of a team of three Data Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and team members continue to grow.
• Hands-on engineering: Build, optimize, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines using ETL processes, all while working within a cloud-first environment (AWS) and leveraging technologies like Python.
• Data strategy: Define and implement end-to-end data solutions and architecture in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
• Database management: Handle large-scale, structured, and unstructured data with expertise in databases (SQL and NoSQL).
• Collaboration: Act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, translating data insights into meaningful business decisions.

Skills & Requirements

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Have 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable ETL pipelines and data architectures.
• Are a natural team leader, experienced in mentoring junior engineers and driving collaboration across teams.
• Bring excellent knowledge of cloud-platform ecosystems, with a preference for AWS.
• Are fluent in Python and understand the intricacies of working with large-scale data.
• Possess strong skills in database management (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Can think both strategically and tactically, thriving in a startup where agility matters.
