Site Services Officer - Primary School (Euston, Camden, London) - Temporary Role

About the Role

A well-established 3-form entry primary school in Euston, Camden, is seeking a Site Services Officer for a temporary placement, with the possibility of extending until the summer holidays. This is a flexible role where you can choose between morning or afternoon shifts. The school also has an onsite SEN unit, so an understanding of working in a school environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Security & Safety:

  • Opening and closing the school premises, ensuring the site is secure.
  • Monitoring site access, including deliveries and visitors.
  • Carrying out routine security checks and addressing any concerns.

Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Conducting general maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical tasks).
  • Ensuring classrooms, corridors, and communal areas are well-maintained.
  • Reporting and coordinating larger repair works with external contractors.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring the school complies with safety regulations.
  • Checking fire alarms, emergency exits, and first-aid equipment regularly.
  • Handling COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and ensuring proper storage of chemicals.

Cleaning & Hygiene Management:

  • Overseeing cleaning staff and ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
  • Managing stock of cleaning supplies and arranging replenishments.
  • Ensuring toilet and staff facilities are fully functional and hygienic.

Supporting School Operations:

  • Setting up halls and classrooms for assemblies, meetings, and events.
  • Assisting staff with moving furniture and resources when needed.
  • Responding to urgent maintenance requests promptly.
Experience & Skills Required:
  • Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Services Officer, or Maintenance Coordinator in a primary school is essential.
  • Strong understanding of building maintenance, site security, and health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to carry out basic plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.
  • Familiarity with risk assessments, fire safety checks, and COSHH regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with staff, contractors, and external agencies.
