Site Maintenance Officer

  • Location: London
  • Job Type: Temporary to Permanent (12-week temporary period followed by a permanent contract)
  • Working Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week, shift pattern: Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 15:30 / 13:30 to 21:30, Friday 08:30 to 16:30, Saturday 08:00 to 17:00 on a rotational basis)

We are on the lookout for a dedicated Site Maintenance Officer to join our team and contribute to the smooth operation of our college’s estate.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform general building maintenance tasks, including light plumbing, carpentry, and door lock repairs.
  • Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Carry out minor building works and first fix repairs to general fabric fittings.
  • Undertake painting, decorating, and monitoring of material stocks.
  • Support specialist contractors and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Arrange furniture for examinations and classrooms, manage deliveries, and act as a key holder for the premises.
  • Operate isolation switches for utilities and support effective building evacuations in emergencies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant training in Building Services (NVQ/City and Guilds) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Skilled in various maintenance tasks such as painting, decorating, and carpentry.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational environment.
  • Ability to use risk assessments to maintain safety and security.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads in a reactive environment and remain composed in emergency situations.
