Senior Information Governance AnalystLocation: Canary Wharf, LondonReports to: Governance and Assurance ManagerRole Overview:Step into a pivotal role as a Senior Information Governance Analyst, where your expertise will ensure the Council adheres to information rights legislation. This position offers a unique chance to shape and maintain the governance framework, policies, and procedures essential for the Council to function as an effective, proportionate regulator. The post-holder will also deputise for the Governance and Assurance Manager, including fulfilling the statutory Data Protection Officer role.Key Benefits:

Main Responsibilities:
  • Information Requests: Lead and coordinate responses to Freedom of Information Act and data protection requests, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
  • Procurement Advice: Provide expert advice on data protection and information security requirements in procurement activities, including due diligence on suppliers.
  • Deputising Roles: Act as the Data Protection Officer and Governance and Assurance Manager when required, maintaining statutory responsibilities and supervising team members.
  • Complex Analysis: Undertake comprehensive information governance analysis, develop policies, and provide advice on data protection, records management, and information security.
  • Training and Development: Develop and facilitate training sessions, create intranet content, and promote good practice across the organisation.
  • Incident Response: Manage breaches and incidents, conduct investigations, and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate with IT colleagues to develop policies for technology and information security improvements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Significant experience in applying data protection legislation within an information governance role.
  • Proven track record in handling Freedom of Information and data protection requests, preferably in a health or regulatory environment.
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to summarise findings and provide clear recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the capability to deliver under pressure and meet statutory deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and see the bigger picture in organisational strategy.
  • Recognised data protection qualification.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience, education, or training in pharmacy or healthcare.
