We are supporting a leading London based University with the recruitment of an Information Compliance Officer. The post holder will assist the Information Compliance team in coordinating responses to statutory information requests (FOIA, UK GDPR, Data Protection Act), gathering information and preparing compliant responses within legal deadlines.

Job Profile:

  • Coordinate the university’s responses to statutory information requests (DPA, GDPR, FOIA), gathering information and preparing responses within deadlines, ensuring compliance with legal and policy standards
  • Prioritise and manage workload to meet statutory deadlines, handling a diverse caseload effectively
  • Draft thorough, compliant responses for requests for information
  • Accurately document all actions and advice related to requests and inquiries
  • Provide guidance on information compliance to university staff and advise requesters on university procedures and available information
  • Log and assess reported data breaches, escalating serious cases appropriately
  • Build and maintain a network of departmental contacts on compliance issues and support related meetings
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the Information Compliance team’s work as required
  • Update web pages on compliance topics, including the Freedom of Information Publication Scheme and Disclosure Log
  • Maintain electronic and paper records for the Information Compliance Team, ensuring confidentiality

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of information access and privacy laws, including FOIA, GDPR, and the Data Protection Act
  • Strong written communication skills, with excellent grammar and clarity
  • Skilled in preparing professional responses to information requests
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and multitasking abilities

Hourly rate: £23.47 - £26.42

Length of contract: 6 months (with the possibility to extend/ progress to a permanent contract)

Working hours: 35 hours per week

Location: Central London (hybrid working)
