A traditional British couple in Chelsea is seeking a skilled and kind housekeeper to care for their elegant family home. This is an ideal role for someone with excellent training who takes pride in their work and is looking for a long-term position.
The couple split their time between London and their property in Europe so are generally away for a few weeks at a time, generally over Christmas, easter and summer. The household is warm and welcoming, with high standards and an appreciation for meticulous care.
The ideal candidate will be exceptionally well-trained, with the skills to make a bed to perfection and care for delicate fabrics like silk with expertise. This is someone who works with initiative, proactively assessing the needs of the household—whether it’s arranging for a contractor, giving extra attention to watering plants during summer, or sewing a button onto a shirt.
Responsibilities:
• Daily cleaning
• Laundry care from ironing shirts to properly caring for delicate fabrics like silk.
• Making beds and changing linens
• Polish silver, tidy rooms, and ensure the home runs smoothly.
• Setting a table.
• Keep the front and back of the house tidy.
• Plant care
• Identify and address areas needing attention, such as arranging contractors when necessary
• Running errands.
Requirements:
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Solid housekeeping and laundry experience
• Knowledge of mild, organic cleaning products and best practices (no chemicals)
• Detail orientated
• Excellent, checkable references
• Pet friendly (11-year-old spaniel)
Days/hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Salary: Up to £42k gpa
Start: January 2025
