Job OverviewA highly regarded nursery in North London is seeking a dedicated Nursery Teacher to join their Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team on a maternity cover contract. This role is ideal for a compassionate and creative teacher who can support children's individual learning and development, fostering a warm and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum

  • Collaborate with parents to gather information and observe children in play-based settings, using insights to plan for individual and group learning.
  • Prepare and resource activities that are tailored to children's interests and developmental needs.
  • Support children's learning, providing guidance in both child-led and adult-led activities.
  • Maintain classroom organisation and create engaging displays, contributing to the EYFS curriculum's development.

Child Development and Well-being

  • Foster the well-being and progress of individual pupils and assigned groups, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Provide guidance and advice for parents on educational and social matters.
  • Communicate with the Deputy Head or SENCO about any developmental concerns and work with external agencies as necessary.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Conduct regular observations and assessments, maintaining termly data using ITrack.
  • Complete the 2½ Years Progress Check where relevant and provide both written and verbal assessments for individual children and groups.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to school training and professional development.
  • Participate in school activities, including outings, and support the growth of fellow staff members.
  • Assist in developing teaching resources, materials, and assessment strategies with the Deputy Head and teaching team.

Performance and Development

  • Engage in observation, appraisal, and performance management procedures.
  • Participate actively in training and development, contributing to the overall quality of the teaching team.
  • Work collaboratively on medium- and short-term planning, methods of teaching, and curriculum development.

Child Protection and Health and Safety

  • Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of children in your care, maintaining order and discipline.
  • Promote health and safety for pupils both on-site and during school activities.
  • Encourage equality and celebrate diversity through EYFS curriculum delivery.
