Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs in a primary school in Lambeth. This is a full-time, long-term role, ideal for an individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them to thrive in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with SEN, adapting strategies to meet their individual needs.

Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure the child's progress and well-being.

Encourage the child's engagement in classroom activities and promote their confidence and independence.

Use a variety of learning resources and assertive technologies to support learning.

Maintain accurate records of the child's progress and report observations to relevant staff and parents where appropriate.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Provide support during break times, transitions, and extracurricular activities where necessary.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with SEN, preferably in a primary school setting.

Understanding of a range of special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) is desirable.

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to upholding the welfare of children.

An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
