Exciting Opportunity: BSL Teaching Assistant

Are you a skilled British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in education? Empowering Learning is thrilled to offer an opportunity for a passionate individual to join a dedicated team in a school in Plaistow, East London.

We are seeking a qualified BSL Level 2 or higher professional to work closely with students with Hearing Impairments, supporting their learning and development in a BSL-friendly environment. This is a long-term position where you will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their full potential while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Qualified: A minimum of BSL Level 2 certification (candidates with lower qualifications but extensive experience using BSL will also be considered).
  • Passionate: Committed to the growth and development of students with additional needs, particularly those with Hearing Impairments.
  • Experienced: Proven track record of working with students with Hearing Impairments or in a similar setting.
  • Dynamic: Able to adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs and deliver engaging, differentiated learning experiences.
  • Reliable: Holding a current DBS certificate (or willing to obtain one).
Your Role Will Include
  • Providing one-on-one and group support to students with Hearing Impairments.
  • Creating a nurturing and BSL-inclusive environment that promotes learning and communication.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to ensure tailored learning plans are effectively delivered.
  • Supporting the school's mission to raise levels of attainment for all students.
