We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive SEN school community in Hillingdon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about music and education, with a desire to support students in developing their musical talents and creativity.

About the Role:

As a Music Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the music curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will work closely with the classroom teacher to provide both 1:1 and small group support, assisting students in developing their musical skills, fostering a love for music, and ensuring that all learners can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging music lessons under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Help set up and maintain music equipment and resources for lessons and extracurricular activities.
  • Lead small group sessions, focusing on music theory, practical skills, and instrument tuition.
  • Encourage and inspire students to take part in music clubs, performances, and other extracurricular activities.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support the classroom teacher in assessing student progress and providing feedback.
About You:
  • A passion for music and the ability to inspire students of all ages and abilities.
  • Experience in working with children or young people, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • A good understanding of music theory, practical musicianship, and different musical genres.
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting students' learning and development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn and develop your skills as a teaching assistant.
Desirable:
  • A background in music education or qualifications in music (e.g., GCSE, A-Level, or Degree).
  • Experience in playing a musical instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, voice, etc.).
  • Knowledge of current teaching practices and educational strategies.
  • Either live in Hillingdon or within a commutable distance
