The PMLD Teaching Assistant JobWe are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant to work with young students with profound multiple learning disabilities. You will provide one-on-one support, helping students engage with their learning and develop independence and connect with a modified curriculum that is tailored to the needs of each student with an individualised care plan.
The successful PMLD Teaching Assistant applicant will be given an exciting opportunity to work as a part of a fantastic school in Brixton where your energy and experience will be valued as you play an important part working each day towards the schools aim to meet the varied needs of its students.
As a PMLD teaching assistant you will enjoy a high degree of job satisfaction as you have the opportunity to apply your skills to working with primary school students who need support building their independence and life skills through play, art therapy

- Based in Brixton this fantastic school is a friendly and well respected in the local community with students across the school ages 11-19
- Pupils from Brixton and across surrounding areas who attend this school are offered a broad and balanced curriculum, that is tailored around an extensive knowledge of their learning difficulties and tailored to them.
- Support and training offered every week to further develop your knowledge and skills as a PMLD teaching assistant for children with varied needs.
- You will be working with skilled Teachers and other PMLD Teaching Assistant's in a classroom environment.
The PMLD Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
- Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
- Promote pupil's independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
- Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
- Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons
- Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
- Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures
- Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
The PMLD Teaching Assistant Applicant
The ideal PMLD Teaching Assistant applicant will be have the following qualities:
- Enjoyment of working with young people
- Will have experience working with students with with various SEN needs
- Sensitivity and understanding, to help build good relationships with pupils
- A commitment to getting the best outcomes for all pupils
- Comfortable with personal care assisting students
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Commitment to safeguarding pupil's well-being and equality
- Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils and adults
- The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
