The PMLD Teaching Assistant JobWe are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant to work with young people in secondary school with profound multiple learning disabilities. You will provide one-on-one support, helping students engage with their learning and develop independence by being able to connect with a modified curriculum that is tailored to the needs of each student with an individualised care plan.

  • Pupils from Lambeth and across surrounding areas who attend this school are offered a broad and balanced curriculum, that is tailored around an extensive knowledge of their learning difficulties and tailored to them.
  • Support and training offered every week to further develop your knowledge and skills as a PMLD teaching assistant for children with varied needs.
  • You will be working with skilled Teachers and other PMLD Teaching Assistant's in a classroom environment.

The PMLD Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
  • Promote pupil's independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
  • Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
  • Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons
  • Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures
  • Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
