Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the patience, resilience, and empathy to make a real difference in the lives of students? We are seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Barkingside.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to develop and implement strategies that support pupils' social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment where students feel supported and valued.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored interventions and behaviour management plans to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Work on a one-to-one basis or with small groups, building strong relationships with students to help them engage with their learning.
  • Monitor progress and communicate regularly with staff and parents to ensure that the needs of each student are being met.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs (highly desirable).
  • A calm, patient, and compassionate approach with a genuine desire to help young people succeed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • A proactive, flexible attitude and the ability to remain resilient in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting SEMH students is desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a background in psychology, youth work, or counselling) are desirable but not essential.
