- Experience and training in trauma and attachment
- Knowledge of SEMH, ADHD, autism, and ODD
- Flexibility, calmness, and the ability to align with the Academy's ethos
- Confidence in running one-to-one interventions
- Assist students on an individual or small group basis with their educational activities
- Adapt educational programs to meet the needs of students with SEMH
- Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to SEMH requirements
- Help manage students' behaviour within the classroom to maintain a positive learning environment
- Implement behaviour management strategies to assist students in managing their emotions
- Support individualized behaviour plans
- Build positive relationships with students to understand and address their needs
- Offer emotional support to help students build self-esteem and resilience
- Facilitate social skills groups and activities to enhance peer relationships
- Track students' progress and provide feedback to relevant staff (SENCO, pastoral teams, teachers, and parents)
- Keep accurate records of students' achievements, behaviours, and incidents
- Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff
- Liaise with external agencies to support students' SEMH needs
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
- Assist in maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment
- Support the implementation of health and safety policies and practices
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning)
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies for supporting students
- Additional training in SEMH (e.g., mental health first aid, behaviour management)
- Experience with specific interventions and programs (e.g., THRIVE, Boxall Profile)
