We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This is a full-time, long-term role that will run until the end of the academic year, providing invaluable support to our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support and guidance to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement personalised learning plans and differentiated resources.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individual or small group interventions to target specific needs, such as literacy, numeracy, or social skills development.
  • Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students' well-being is always prioritised.
  • Support students with physical, emotional, or behavioural needs in line with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and the school's SEND policy.
  • Liaise with other professionals such as SENCOs, educational psychologists, and external agencies to provide holistic support to students.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with SEND is essential, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each learner.
  • A current DBS certificate on the update service is mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a proactive attitude.
