SEND Teaching Assistant - Immediate Start

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team in a mainstream secondary school located in Southwark. This is a full-time, long-term role lasting until the end of the academic year, offering an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in students' lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to help them reach their full potential.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs), adapting lessons and materials to suit students' specific needs.
  • Support students in and out of the classroom with both their academic work and social development.
  • Use a patient, caring approach to help students build confidence and independence.
  • Foster a positive learning environment, promoting respect, understanding, and an inclusive classroom culture.
  • Collaborate with the school's SEND team, teachers, and parents to ensure consistent support for each student's educational journey.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing insights with teaching staff to further enhance student support.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with SEND students, with an understanding of various learning difficulties and strategies to support diverse needs.
  • DBS Certificate on the update service (essential).
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to inclusivity.
  • A proactive approach to assisting students in their academic and social development.
