A number of opportunities have arisen for SEND Teaching Assistants to join a Good Academy in the borough of Newham.

This large academy based in the heart of Newham is currently looking to recruit a number of SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team. The successful Head Teacher together with his very forward-thinking Senior Leadership Team are fully focused on achieving the best possible educational outcomes for their pupils. There is a big emphasis on ensuring that pupils achieve their goals by making sure that they are taught by skilled specialist teachers who really know their subjects. Staff are encouraged to plan together, and this will involve both teaching and support staff affiliated with each department. There are high expectations of teaching staff to ensure that the lessons they are delivering are of a good standard, as the more engaging the lesson, the more likely the children will behave well.

SEND Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and motivated individuals who are looking to make a difference as a Teaching Assistant. The successful candidates will have a passion for education and ideally be looking to go on to complete their teaching qualifications. Experience of working alongside students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) would be a benefit. As an SEMH/SEND Teaching Assistant you will be joining a strong and supportive student support department. You will be required to work closely supporting students with varying SEND, so being adaptable is very important.

Your role will be to provide support to students with additional needs, 1:1 tuition or to small groups of students with varying abilities. You will be encouraging and supporting individual pupils to reach their full potential whilst demonstrating a creative and determined attitude that will help motivate students. You will be directly supporting the students, as well as helping to organise the teaching and learning resources available to students and staff.

The school are looking to recruit a team of SEND Teaching Assistants who are able to commit to the full academic year.

The right applicant for this SEND Teaching Assistant position will:

  • Have experience of working as a teaching assistant (desired)
  • Have an interest in the education sector
  • SEND experience (Desired)
  • A recent graduate (graduated within last 2 years)
  • Ability to engage with and inspire young learners.
