Main Areas of Responsibility

The purpose of your role will be:

  • To work to support the learning of children in the early years classes (Nursery and Reception)
  • To take regular class cover, in both Nursery and Reception, as well as occasional ad hoc cover as directed
  • To work under the direction of a Principal, Early Years Lead and the class teacher to plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes of children
  • To work under the direction of the Early Years Lead and class teacher setting up and developing learning opportunities in the indoor and outdoor classrooms
  • To play a full part in the early years team including monitoring and assessing pupils progress and reporting on their progress
  • To monitor, assess and support children that have additional needs as required
  • To attend meetings as appropriate

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of working with or caring for children in early years, supporting learning
  • Experience of establishing good relationships with parents and families, encouraging involvement in education
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for engaging children, motivating them to learn and managing behaviour.
  • The ability to use ICT and technology (e.g. video, digital cameras and photocopiers) effectively for administrative and display purposes and to support learning
  • Understanding of key requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and ability to support learning and development of young children
  • Knowledge of policies such as behaviour and the ability to apply these consistently and fairly
