SEN Teaching Assistant

Career Teachers is delighted to be partnering with a beautiful, one-form entry Primary School located in the heart of Wimbledon.

This small community school, which includes a Nursery and a specialist base for children with autism and communication needs, has been rated Good by Ofsted.

The school is now seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with autism and communication needs, ensuring their academic and social progress.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, SENCo, and other support staff to create and deliver tailored learning plans.
  • Support the child in daily activities, encouraging participation and fostering independence.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting emotional and social well-being.
  • Ensure the child's specific needs are met, including following therapy or behavioural plans where required.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant (or similar role) in a primary school setting.
  • A strong understanding of autism and communication difficulties, with a compassionate and patient approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, fostering trust and confidence.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, able to respond to the needs of the child and the class environment.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
  • A clear DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK.
