Reeson Education is seeking a caring and committed Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our client's staff on a one-year contract starting in September. This position is full-time, five days a week, during term time only. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in offering tailored support and assistance to our special needs students, working either one-on-one or with a small group. The students' needs encompass Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and emotional and behavioral challenges.

Duties:

  • Help classroom teachers execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students with varying learning needs.

  • Offer personalized support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings during lessons and activities.

  • Assist students with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and mobility when necessary.

  • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes student involvement and active participation.

  • Aid in the application of behavioral interventions and strategies to facilitate positive behavior management.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other professionals to enhance student growth and progress.

  • Ensure a safe and orderly classroom environment that prioritises the well-being and safety of all students.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with individuals with special educational needs is advantageous.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere dedication to working with students with diverse learning needs.

  • Ability to work efficiently both as a team member and independently.

  • Readiness to undergo relevant training and professional development as necessary.
