A lovely primary school in Islington areĀ seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching AssistantĀ to support three children across the school on a 1 to 1 basis.

The Role

In this SEN TeachingĀ Assistant role you will be supporting three pupils with identified Special Educational Needs. Ā You will be based in the EYFS department in the morning and year 5 in the afternoon.

In EYFS you will be supporting two children both have speech and language and communication needs. One is visually impaired and has a medical condition which requires daily medication. You will administer this but it is a simple process and you will be provided with training and guidance.Ā  The other pupil has SEMH needs so can present as dysregulated and show a range behavioural needs. This child will need to have support to regulate their emotions and interact with other children.In the afternoons you will be supporting a child in year 5. The child has autism and speech and language needs, a very young mental age and can show defiance. The child has a lot of previous trauma and requires support to manage emotions.

The school are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant with the following:Ā 

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs
  • Experience of de-escalation
  • Calm, clear use of language and able to provide speech and language support
  • Confident behaviour management and boundaries

This role is offered on a full-time ongoing contract basis ASAP until July 2025.
