Job Advert: Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Full-TimeLocation: Pimlico, LondonSalary: £80-£110 per day (depending on experience)Start Date: ASAP

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal autistic child in Year 3 at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Pimlico.

• Provide tailored support to a non-verbal autistic child, helping them access learning in a way that suits their needs.
• Use strategies such as visual aids, Makaton, PECS, and sensory-based approaches to aid communication and engagement.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement an individualised learning plan.
• Foster a nurturing, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Assist with emotional regulation, social interaction, and daily routines.

• Experience working with children with autism and communication difficulties (preferable but not essential).
• Understanding of alternative communication methods (Makaton, PECS, AAC) is desirable.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
• Ability to build a trusting relationship and create a safe learning space.
• A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
