The Teaching Assistant JobWe are looking for a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant to work with young people with mild learning difficulties. You will provide support to a small class to help students engage with their learning and develop essential life skills. If you have patience, creativity, and a desire to make a real impact in the lives of these pupils, we want you on our team!

The successful teaching assistant applicant will be given an exciting opportunity to work as a part of a small Lambeth special needs secondary school, where your energy and experience will be valued as you play an important part working each day towards the schools aim to meet the varied needs of its students.

As a teaching assistant, you will enjoy a high degree of job satisfaction as you have the opportunity to apply your skills to working with 11-19 year old's who need support building their confidence and life skills as you support their growing ability to tackle their learning and the outside world.

The Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
  • Promote pupil's independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
  • Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
  • Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons
  • Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures
  • Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
