SEND Teaching Assistant

Mainstream Secondary School, Greenwich

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? Do you have the skills and experience to make a real difference in a student's life? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in a thriving mainstream secondary school in Greenwich.

Role Details:

  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Commitment: Full-time, Long-term (until the end of the academic year)
  • Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
  • Work closely with teachers and SEND coordinators to develop and implement strategies that address each student's unique needs.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment, encouraging engagement and participation.
  • Monitor student progress and assist with assessments, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Support with classroom activities and help with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Encourage social and emotional development, guiding students in positive behaviours and skills for success.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Prior experience in a child-based role, preferably within an educational or SEND setting.
  • DBS: Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
  • SEND Experience: Demonstrated experience working with students with special educational needs is essential.
  • Skills: Patience, empathy, strong communication, and a collaborative spirit.
