Teaching Assistant

A Primary School in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team from January 2025. This is a full-time role, where you will work in our Year 3 class in the mornings and our reception class in the afternoons, providing invaluable support to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

    • Morning (Year 3 Class):
      • Provide tailored support for children with SEND, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom.
      • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering lessons, adapting content as needed for different learning styles and abilities.
      • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
    • Afternoon (Reception Class):
      • Support children with SEND during their early years development, ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.
      • Help with the delivery of phonics, literacy, and numeracy activities that are adapted to the needs of individual children.
      • Encourage social interaction and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and well-being.

Requirements:

    • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND, is highly desirable.
    • A strong understanding of strategies to support children with additional learning needs.
    • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
    • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to provide the best support for the children.
    • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
    • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is preferred but not essential.
