Your new role

They are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to join the team. You will support ecological surveys, data analysis, and the preparation of reports. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of projects aimed at promoting biodiversity and sustainable development.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ecological surveys, including habitat assessments and protected species surveys.
  • Assist in the preparation of ecological reports and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support senior ecologists in project management and client liaison.
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Participate in fieldwork, sometimes requiring travel and overnight stays.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Membership or working towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Experience in conducting ecological surveys and report writing.
  • Analysing and interpreting ecological data.
  • Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using GIS and other relevant software is desirable.
  • Valid driving license due to fieldwork - Desirable.
  • CSCS card - Desirable.
