Groupwork Development Officer (CFOE) Women's Estates


Client is a leading national charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by imprisonment. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Groupwork Development Officer to join our team and contribute to our mission of reducing re-offending and improving outcomes for prisoners' children and family members.


About the Role:
As a Groupwork Development Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering Client's groupwork programs for women serving sentences. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating relationship and parenting courses, including topics such as effective communication, conflict resolution, and healthy boundaries
  • Supporting the recruitment of participants through outreach activities and partnerships with prison staff
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with prison agencies, social services, and other organizations that work with women in prison
  • Collecting and analyzing data to inform program improvement, including tracking participant attendance, progress, and outcomes
  • Providing individual support to participants, including listening, counseling, and offering guidance on a range of issues, such as mental health, substance abuse, and financial management
  • Collaborating with other professionals involved in the participants' lives, such as prison staff, social workers, and family members, to develop and implement comprehensive support plans
  • Developing and implementing new groupwork programs and activities that address the specific needs of women in prison, such as vocational training, life skills development, and financial literacy
  • Representing Client at conferences, workshops, and other events to raise awareness of our programs and services


Key Qualifications:

  • Adult training qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in delivering groupwork programs, preferably with women in prison or other marginalized populations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively in a prison environment and navigate complex systems
  • Passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health conditions, substance abuse issues, and criminal justice involvement
  • Knowledge of issues related to imprisonment, re-offending, and gender-based violence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
