Production Editor, Hay House UK

Full-time permanent position; hybrid working

Hay House is the UK’s leading publisher of non-fiction books, audio products and online courses in the personal development, holistic health and spirituality space. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Production Editor to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a busy and varied role that would suit an organised, tech-savvy, detail-orientated editor with previous experience in a similar role. We offer a hybrid working environment and expect that you will work from our central London office three days a week: on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The role involves:

  • Adapting US-originated cover copy and InDesign files for the UK market and finalising them for print.
  • Assessing and coordinating editorial comments from authors and proofreaders; making text revisions to InDesign files at various stages of the editorial process.
  • Coordinating workflows through to agreed deadlines using tracking and content management systems as appropriate.
  • Quality checking content at different stages of the editorial workflow.
  • Ensuring that materials are produced on time and maintain consistency and house style.
  • Processing post-publication corrections for reprint and print-on-demand titles in a timely fashion.
  • Working with design and production colleagues in the creation of the annual stocklist.
  • Related admin duties (meeting admin, metadata updates, file management and archiving, etc.)
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with authors and internal and external colleagues.

What we’re looking for:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Impeccable spelling and grammar a keen eye for detail.
  • You will work across multiple projects so must be proactive, organised and able to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in InDesign and MS Office (further training will be available).
  • Strong administrative and technical skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative and flexible way.
  • An interest in our publishing genre will be an advantage.
