We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Care Manager to join our Extra Care team. This role is crucial in providing high-quality, CQC-compliant care services to residents, ensuring effective recruitment, supervision, and retention of care workers. The Assistant Care Manager will work under the guidance of the Housing and Care Manager, adhering to shift patterns and weekend work as required.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct assessments for new or existing residents and ensure all have up-to-date, comprehensive care plans.
  • Manage and enhance the performance of care staff through regular supervision, monitoring, and support.
  • Participate in meetings to devise care plans, review them, and discuss safeguarding issues.
  • Assist in managing team absences, recruitment, staff induction, training, and disciplinary procedures in line with company policies.
  • Coach and mentor care workers, conducting regular supervisions and appraisals.
  • Contribute to the service’s quality assurance system through auditing, observations, and responding to resident feedback.
  • Prepare rotas to ensure appropriate care staff coverage at all times.
  • Act as the responsible person for the safe running of the care service in the manager’s absence, managing all safeguarding and health and safety issues.
  • Represent the Housing and Care Manager in various meetings and support them in handling complaints and implementing improvement plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A good understanding of CQC regulations and application in practice.
  • Supervisory experience in a care setting.
  • Hands-on experience in delivering care to adults.
  • Experience in developing and reviewing care plans according to individual needs and preferences.
  • Experience in organising staff rotas and scheduling care calls.
  • Proficient use of ICT tools such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, make sound decisions independently, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Positive, collaborative, and personable attitude with the ability to build effective relationships.
