Interim VSM Director of Nursing

MLC Partners are supporting a reputable NHS Trust who are seeking a Director of Nursing to become a crucial member of the Executive Chief Nursing Officer’s (CNO) leadership team. The Director of Nursing plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the Trust strategy, enabling outstanding nursing & midwifery care, clinical outcomes and managing the day to day operational needs of the Trust’s corporate nursing and midwifery function.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the CNO across the full range of duties and responsibilities, providing professional nursing and midwifery leadership, expertise and advice on operational and strategic issues within the Trust, across the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC), Integrated Care System (ICS) and NHS England (NHSE).
  • Leading the development of our journey to excellence, aspiring to outstanding clinical and professional standards
  • Manage a portfolio of programmes and projects across nursing and midwifery.
  • Deputising for the CNO internally and externally, across the full portfolio of the Executive Chief Nursing Officer’s responsibilities, including representation at Executive Team, ICB and NHSE meetings, as and when required.
  • Adopting a positive approach to reporting and providing assurance through the Trust’s governance arrangements.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with current and valid NMC registration
  • Experience in a senior nursing/midwifery deputy or director role in a health organisation
  • Evidence of success in leading, devising, implementing and delivering strategies into practice to improve outcomes
