Job Description: Electrical Design Engineer – HVAC and Building Management Systems (BMS)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team, focusing on integrating HVAC systems, air handling units, VRF cooling systems, chillers, and heat pumps with advanced Building Management Systems (BMS). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major 3-year project that aims to deliver cutting-edge energy-efficient building automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical layouts, control panels, and system architecture for BMS integration.
  • Ensure seamless connection of HVAC systems and associated equipment to the BMS, with a focus on energy efficiency.
  • Work with protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and OPC UA for building automation.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or EPLAN) to create detailed and accurate designs.
  • Implement BEMS platforms, including Siemens Desigo, Tridium Niagara, or Schneider EcoStruxure.
  • Optimise system performance through energy data analysis and advanced diagnostics.
  • Ensure compliance with energy codes and standards, such as ASHRAE and BREEAM.
  • Prepare and deliver clear documentation, including specifications, commissioning plans, and handover documents.
  • Incorporate cyber-security best practices into system design.
  • Stay updated on IoT and smart building trends, applying innovative technologies to projects.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in designing and integrating HVAC systems with building management systems.
  • Proficiency in energy efficiency principles and building automation protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Desigo and BACnet protocols is highly desirable.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
