We are currently working with a leading Facilities Management servive provider, to recruit an Electrical Engineer for an Education site in the Greenwich area.
The role will be 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday with alternating shifts: Earlies from 07:00 to 15:30 and lates from 10:30 to 19:00.
As an Electrical Engineer, you'll be working across 14 diverse buildings, including historic landmarks, modern lecture halls, student accommodations, and administrative offices. This role offers the freedom to move between buildings, giving you exposure to a range of electrical systems and the chance to develop your skills in different environments.
The well-structured team is led by a Lead Engineer, supported by two Senior Engineers, and includes experts from a range of disciplines, ensuring a collaborative and supportive workplace. Main responsibilities:
- Perform the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and associated plant equipment across the campus, ensuring they meet safety standards and statutory compliance.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and related building services, such as HVAC, fire alarm systems, and lifts, to ensure optimal operation.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve electrical faults to minimise downtime, ensuring timely repairs and maintaining service continuity.
- Ensure all maintenance work adheres to relevant health and safety regulations, including procedures and the latest legislation, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance, providing clear documentation for management and clients.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and contractors to deliver high-quality service and ensure effective communication of engineering and building issues impacting service delivery.
Candidate requirements:
- Qualification in or Knowledge of Electrical Building Services.
- Time served Engineer with relevant post experience in a similar environment.
- Ability to Multi-task across electrical and building disciplines at a basic level
- Good organisational skills with the ability to organise others.
- The ability to listen to others understand and interpret their views.
- Analyse and provide technical advice and solutions.
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non –technical staff.
- Prioritising own workload and working under own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Experience of working within a Building Maintenance Organisation.
- Basic supervision of maintenance contractors
- Understand user’s requirements and the concepts behind various maintenance regimes.
- Working knowledge of H & S. Working knowledge of relevant current legislation and guidance.
- Strong sense of client focus.
- Prepared to contribute to how the department operates
